Ludwig van Beethoven 1770-1827 

Ludwig van Beethoven :- Born in Bonn - German composer and virtuoso pianist.  Aged 21 studied with Haydn in Vienna where he lived until his death. He is the most famous and revered composer of music. His compositions include 9 symphonies, 5 piano concertos, 1 violin concerto, 32 piano sonatas, 16 string quartets, Mass the Missa solemnis and the opera, Fidelio. Whilst still a young man in his twenties he began to lose his hearing and was totally deaf towards the end of his life. In 1811 he stopped performing in public but continued to compose some of his greatest works during the last 15 years or his life.
